Reagan-6 months!

Ok, she's not really six months. Not yet at least. Yesterday she turned 5 months and 3 weeks old but since we were at my parents house I decided to go ahead and take some photos that will act as her 6 month photos. Later you can check my other blog to see what the collage/finished print(s) will look like. Enjoy and don't tear up like I do :-)

5 year anniversary

Ok this post is about a week late but at least I'm writing it. June 5th, Adam and I celebrated our 5 year anniversary. I can't believe it's been 5 years already! It really is amazing at how time flies...with everything we've been through you would think that we'd feel it but we don't! The only time it seems like it's been that long is when we look back on that year we spent in Maryville right after getting married but before moving to Georgia.

We had planned on going on a cruise but then last May when we found out we were pregnant that quickly changed. We ended up going to Nashville last weekend...my parents came down and watched Reagan for the weekend while we were gone. Adam had never been to all the things around Nashville so that's what we decided to do! We saved for months and I told Adam that we could either stay in a regular hotel for two nights or we could stay at the Opryland Hotel for one night. He said Opryland Hotel so I called to make the reservations and what did I find out? They are running a special that if you stay there the month of your anniversary you pay for one night you get the second night free!! That is a deal! Really it is :-) All you had to do was bring in a copy of your marriage certificate and it's yours!

Here are some pictures of the trip:

New Routine

Well I've been out of school for 4 days now and we're attempting a new routine. Well, I am attempting to get back on our old one but Reagan's not really going for it. She has gotten used to waking up at 6:45 so that's what time she's getting up now. So far what we've developed has been working (to an extent) here it is below:

6:45: wake
6:45-7:30/8: Rice Cereal and about 4-5 ozs of formula
9-12: This used to be a nap but this is the nap she has 'chosen' to drop. This is also the time that we will go out and run errands. By the time I get ready and we leave and get back it's time for her to eat again. She will generally stay up until around 11, sometimes 10:45 and will sleep until close to noon. So she takes a little power nap but for the most part is up.
12-1: 7-8 oz.s of formula and a little play time
1-4: nap time.
4-5:30: 7-8 oz.s of formula and some more play time
5:30-8: late afternoon nap,
8-9: rice cereal, formula, very little play time, bath, and read a book then BED

this is a pretty rough schedule. For the most part we stick with it, but she's had a really bad cold the past couple days so some of the naps were shorter. But we've also had 2 humidifiers going in her room plus her mattress is inclined to help with the congestion. We also have shades that we haven't put up yet, but I believe Adam is doing today.

Don't get me wrong, usually during the naps it is not a full 3 nap with no sound. Often she will fight it, wake up early, or almost refuse to take one at all. She needs her sleep. I need her to get her sleep. There are 'battles' that I choose to fight. I will walk across the house to put a pacifier back in, or roll her back on her stomach to sleep. If something is wrong then we take care of it, but 95% of the time it is just a pure fit which (and I know she's only 5 months) we are trying to teach her that those are not acceptable behavior. She'll still throw a good one but they are few and far between. Adam and I personably believe that the reason she sleeps so well at night and her general good disposition is because we worked hard and got her on a schedule. There are some deviations but otherwise we stay pretty much right on. However, and I can't remember if I said this earlier or not, but lately we've been off by about 3o min early. I worry about every little thing, but I keep telling myself 'As long as she keeps sleeping through the night then it's got to be ok'

Adam

I just wanted to say how much I love my husband.

In February we were dealt a blow that we were not expecting but he took it all in stride and has been continuously seeking God's Will in this whole matter. He went to school to be a Golf Course Superintendent and knows all the ins and outs of lawn care maintenance which is not a fun and frilly as you would think. It involves being knowledgeable in fungi, pesticides, consequences of insects damage. It also involves knowing different laws that are in affect in each area. For instance, in East TN any places that are along the river have a about a 10 in (I think) space between the river and what the Golf Course can touch. That 10 inches is considered a part of TVA (look it up if you're unaware of what it is) and is considered federal property. Bottom line, you're in deep trouble if you mess with it. In GA, killing geese is completely out of the question. Your top of the line Golf Course will buy a specially trained dog with insurance that will herd the geese away from the course. He also (although he won't admit it) knows his chemistry as he has to know the calibrations for the pesticides and what will kill what is neccessary and what will kill EVERYTHING. In fact, the course that had to lay him off is getting complements out the wazoo about how good their greens look which is based off of calibrations he gave them. He got laid off in Feb. and because of the economy has not been able to get hired on as an Assistant anywhere else. Instead he took a 'demotion' is now working on the crew which in my humble opinion there is nothing wrong with. He also has to be at work at 6, which means he gets up at 4:40 and right now it's 5:15 and he's still not home yet but today is a particularly long day.

So yes, at times if you CHOOSE to look at it as Adam just 'mows the grass' then you are missing the bigger picture and are only looking at what you know. Not what you aren't aware of. Don't make assumptions or opinions on what you deem is worthy or unworthy until you know everything about the job in itself.

Well...

School's finished. This past month has been the hardest ever. The reason it was hard didn't even have anything to do with being a work-outside-the-home-mother. I don't know whether to be happy or upset over that fact. Things are going well with Adam's job, we just keep praying and God keeps providing but some things are quite on the wire at the moment and I'm trying REALLY hard not to get stressed about it and I'm ok at the moment but we'll see again when Adam gets paid in two weeks.

I plan on either scrapbooking or being in East Tennessee this summer. I figure if I'm there enough maybe something will open up for Adam there. (Hah, I know that is not how things work but I can hope and pray right?)

Aside from the above I am really going to try and read the Harry Potter books....right now debating on whether or not to buy them or not. I'm thinking checking them out from the library.

I also want to take a moment and profess my appreciation and love for those that have supported me in the past couple weeks. Especially Adam, who has answered the phone to me crying and having an emotional breakdown at 7:30 in the morning. Again, I'm not going to go into it but things have been increasingly difficult at school and I have said some things that got some people's attention but nothing changed (not that I thought it would) but at least they know where I stand. I have also applied at three other schools in another county and heard back from two of them but alas they are wanting Culinary Arts teachers (which is NOT what is advertised) and I had to be honest with them in telling them I am not interested in getting the endorsement to teach that. They claimed they were so happy and impressed with my honesty that they would make sure my name was at the top if the other positions came open (which is a high possibility).

That's it for now. I'm posting pictures on Facebook at the moment and hopefully tomorrow or Tuesday I will have a post on here about our trip and some pics :-)

Reagan and Cooter

Cooter is becoming more attached as the days go on, but here is a recent picture of the two of them.

Picture Update

Well Reagan is a little over 4 and half months old but I'm just now getting to uploading the pictures and posting them. Below are the photos of her first meal of rice cereal.
