We love pesto at our house. It's so dang expensive though!! When reading Southern Living there were recipes in there for all kinds of pesto. When I saw the basil pesto, my heart skipped a beat! I finally got around to making it and it was so easy!! A jar that has probably half that much, maybe even just a third and is anywhere from $3-$3.50. I didn't have to spend that much on the ingredients, we already had olive oil, parm cheese, garlic, and lemon juice. I probably spent around $4 on the rest and it will make that recipe 4 times. Not to shabby :-)
Here is the recipe:
2 cups loosely packed fresh basil leaves
1 cup grated parm cheese
2/3 cup olive oil
1/3 cup pine nuts
2 garlic cloves
3 tbsp cold water
1 tbsp lemon juice
1/2 tsp salt
Combine all ingredients in a food processor until smooth.

That sounds so easy. I'm going to put the ingredients on my list. Pesto pizza...mmmmmm!
