Girl's Trip!

So back in February during a particularly hairy day teaching middle school I sent my bff/other half an email saying these words 'girls trip. this summer.  you in?'  Famous last words :-)  She said yes right away and the planning began!!  We both went through places that we wanted to go and emailed each other and Savannah was somewhere we both wanted to go!  I have been numerous times, but we decided that it was good because 1.  I love it there and don't mind going there EVER and 2.  It would be best to go someplace where at least one of us knows our way around!

So Jen came down on Thursday and hung out with me played with Kat and Reagan :-) ate dinner, and watched tv with us in the basement (which she had not seen finished)...Friday we left after lunch and got there early evening and we went out to get something to eat!  We stayed at a quaint little hotel called the Thunderbird Hotel where there was 50's music playing in the parking lot.  It was dark when we were walking down to River Street for dinner and I could tell Jen was thinking 'This is NOT the southern pretty town I thought it was'.  I love Savannah.  But the best way to describe it is the Historic District which is trying to resemble Charleston, and then River Street which is pretty much like Beale Street in Memphis or New Orleans.  Not what you would expect.

However Saturday we wandered through the city, ate lunch at Paula Deen's, met some interesting folks, walked through the city some more and drove out to Uncle Bubba's for dinner.  Jen didn't believe that there wasn't much to Tybee Island so we drove out there but she quickly realized I wasn't kidding ;-)

We had a blast, and started preliminary plans for our next trip---to co-celebrate our 30th birthdays.  We think we may take our husbands/boyfriends along too :-)  Fun times!  Can't wait to visit her in the Windy City!!
